“For four generations now, we have been proud to be a family-run company that is now in its ninth decade. Founded in 1937 by our great-grandfather in picturesque Kahley, we started out as a modest small ironworks. In the course of the company’s 85-year history, however, we have constantly evolved and are now more than ever a shining example of success and consistency.

Our heritage stretches from our beginnings in Plettenberg to our current expansions in Bad Berleburg and Werdohl. We are firmly rooted in our German origins and proud to carry the “Made in Germany” label.

Our continuous development is reflected in our impressive number of employees: over 110 dedicated employees are part of our group of companies, spread across three locations. Together, we form a well-coordinated team that impresses with its expertise and dedication to its work.

While we started out as a small ironworks, we have developed into a versatile company over the decades. Our wide range of products and services is the result of our constant pursuit of excellence and innovation.

HISTORY

Over a period of more than 80 years, the Josef FLECKNER company has lived through a remarkable history. The company was founded in 1937 in the Kahley area of Plettenberg. The course for the future was set in 1951 when Josef FLECKNER handed over the company to his successor Karl-Heinz FLECKNER and the company was renamed Josef FLECKNER KG.

1960 - 1969

The 1960s brought expansion and anniversaries: in 1960 a second plant was founded in Berleburg, and in 1962 the company celebrated its 25th anniversary in Plettenberg. Further changes followed, such as the relocation of production from Kahley to Bahnhofstrasse in Plettenberg in 1968, followed by the relocation of the administration in 1969.

1975 - 1984

The company continued on its successful course in the years that followed. In 1975 the welding shop in Plettenberg was set up and opened, in 1979 the company was renamed GmbH & Co. KG and in 1984 there was a change of generation and managing director from Karl-Heinz to Harald FLECKNER.

1987 - 1991

The company celebrated further milestones, such as the 25th anniversary in Berleburg in 1985, the 50th anniversary in Plettenberg in 1987 and the new building with expanded production and storage space in Berleburg in 1991.

1991 - 1993

The success story continued with the founding of a branch in Limbach-Oberfrohna in 1993. Continuous expansions of the welding shop, storage area and social rooms followed in the years that followed.

2008 - 2017

The move into the Technology & Logistics Park in Werdohl in 2008 and the introduction of a new ERP system in 2017 are evidence of the company's continuous modernization.

2019

Finally, the fourth generation took over in 2019 and continued the tradition by expanding the laser department. The history of Josef FLECKNER is an inspiring journey through several decades, characterized by growth, innovation and consistency.

2020 - 2023

The years 2020 to 2023 mark a significant period in the history of our company. In 2020, the world was hit by an unprecedented pandemic, COVID-19. This had far-reaching effects on the entire global economy and our company was not unaffected. However, the uncertainty and challenges posed by the pandemic led to an unexpected result: a significantly higher order backlog.

2021

In order to meet this increased demand, we decided to increase our staff in 2021. This was an important step in maintaining production and satisfying our customers. The additional employees brought fresh expertise and new ideas to our team, which had a positive impact on the way we work.

2022

In 2022, we invested in the modernization of our production facilities. One of the most notable purchases was the introduction of a new 315-ton EBU automatic punching press. This state-of-the-art machine enabled us to expand our production capacity and increase efficiency at the same time.

2023

The year 2023 brought another significant improvement for our company. We acquired a state-of-the-art laser system with transfer function. This investment not only revolutionized our production technology, but also enabled us to further optimize our production processes and offer customer-specific solutions even more effectively.

During these years, we not only invested in our physical infrastructure, but also pushed ahead with the digitalization of our business processes. The pandemic forced us to find new ways to stay in touch with our customers and business partners, which made digitalization a necessity. This led to improved communication, more efficient workflows and a better understanding of our customers’ needs.

Overall, the years from 2020 to 2023 reflect a phase of change and adaptability of our company. We have mastered the challenges posed by the pandemic, our operations and strengthened our technological base.
